"I can only call it one of the most involving, beautiful, funny, touching and profound plays I have ever seen…" – NY Daily News

"Gurney's mad comedy is the most endearing good time to trot down the pike in many a moon. Howlingly funny…" – BackStage

Greg and Kate have moved to Manhattan after 22 years of child-raising in the suburbs. Greg's career is winding down, while Kate's is beginning to offer her more opportunities. Greg brings home a dog he found in the park—or that has found him—bearing only the name "Sylvia" on her name tag. A street-smart (and outspoken) mixture of Lab and Poodle, Sylvia becomes a major bone of contention as she competes with Kate for Greg’s love and attention.

The Market's third mainstage season is complex, witty, and energizing, with something for everyone. Season tickets are your chance to see all 5 shows at a discount. Pay once and enjoy all year long – great for gifts, convenience, or to show your support of year 3 at The Market!

The Market will be casting for Death of a Salesman, the Mystery Musical, and The Addams Family at SCTA's 2018 Upstate Unified Auditions. Click for more info, and stay tuned for details about local open call auditions.

By auditioning at the SCTA Unifieds, you get to bypass multiple open auditions and be considered for many Upstate theatres, productions, and roles!

Don't worry – if you can't attend the Unifieds, we will hold our usual open auditions for each show at The Market. You only need to attend one – the Unifieds or the open auditions – to be considered for casting.

The Market Theatre Company exists to engage with artists and patrons by creating quality entertainment, educational opportunities, and a vibrant community arts hub.

The Market offers a full season of theatrical productions, plus concerts, workshops, classes, improv and comedy nights. There's something for everyone at The Market!
